Let me rephrase the question, i have been in malaysia for some time now, i ahve seen a lot of indonesians here who have long hair, its like a pattern with them to grow long hair wear tshirts that are smaller in size and look at appl intimadting them,they generally wielld parangs that a local word for a long knife, my question is why do they grow their hair???

Not at all. Believe me. I live in Indonesia. You should know that many people around me don't grow their hair. Even in many places, people with short hair (male, in this case) usually are given more respect than the other who has long hair.
I think, male with long hair usually has his own idealism, unfortunately they can't give more respect to their own body. That's why, people around them don't give them a good appreciation

when u see a man with long hair which is not the norm for men, and then wielding parangs how do u feel.
exactly as u say - purpose of intimidation to hide / cover their inferiority complex. the culture in SEAsia is such. from centuries ago, men keep long hair - no need to cut as it was a way of life. when they run amok - they carry a parang and since then that image is kept alive by such pple. bB
